(I’m publishing this post using Email, I hope it works…)
After landing in India, Iv’e spent 5 days in Mumbai. It was only the day before I left, that I finally found a wonderful teacher, Mrs. Ila Dalal. She has so much knowledge and was happy to share it with me. I asked to learn a few Bollywood steps, and got to hear an enlightening lecture about the origins of Bollywood dance. So in order to teach me Bollywood dance, Mrs. Dalal taught me a little bit of each traditional Indian dance style. Of course in order to really master these styles you need to spend years studying and practicing.
These are the styles we went through, it might seem like a cheat to my project but hopefully I will have more time in India to dive deeper into each one of these styles:
Bollywood Dance, Rajastani dance, Bhangra, Gujarati Gharba, Kathak, Manipuri, Bhranatyam, Odissi.
(Soon I will update this post with a full report)
